Waynesboro Area Refuge Ministry (WARM) is pleased to announce that the 2019 Men Who Cook broke ALL previous records! We raised nearly $28,000 to help the homeless! We are so grateful to the volunteers that made this happen, to the men that cooked (and their family members that helped them!), and all the attendees who showed up to support WARM. None of this would be possible without you!

First, meet our winners:

The trophy for 2019 Master Chef/Best Overall was Hunter Ingersoll from Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church, with Cajun Corn Maque Choux. Best Appetizer trophy went to Mike Hamp, Waynesboro’s City Manager with Warm Corn Dip. Best Side trophy went to Reverend Paul Pingel from Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church for his German Potato Salad. The trophy for Best Entree went to Kevin Osborne of Waynesboro Public Library for his entry of Pulled Pork BBQ, and last, but not least, City of Waynesboro Sheriff Joe Harris won the Best Dessert trophy for his Nutter Butter Nanner Puddin’. SO MUCH delicious food!

The computer team, who handled check in for all attendees and check out for the silent auction, was led by Michelle Mullins, WARM’s Administrative Coordinator. It was better than ever this year. Michelle also took care of all the invoicing, payments and database entry.

Our tremendous volunteers & staff worked hard to set up the event at Best Western Plus for the hours leading up to the event. The table decor was gorgeous, all handmade and donated by dedicated volunteer, Allison Fletcher. Each centerpiece was available for purchase to raise more funds for WARM.

We had new volunteers on the “Mocktail” team this year and they did a fabulous job! Volunteer Megan Williams headed the effort, with help from Event Assistant Audrey Frazier. The beverages were served to the guest tables by Cadets from Fishburne Military School.

Event Assistant Robert Belle, (also the Cold Weather Shelter Manager) was an integral part of our fundraising, selling spatulas for the Heads or Tails game, and raffle tickets for the Cruise (which was won by Kevin Goertzen!).

This event would not be possible without the generosity and giving spirit of the chefs, who donate their time with a cheerful heart to help us raise funds to help the homeless.
